God Father; I ask it in Jesus' name that You refresh in us Your gift of prayer. Place people across our spirit and heart's whom You want us to pray for and how You want us to pray for them. Let us not grow weary in praying. Strengthen us physically, mentally and spiritually as we pray, let us have strength when we are awakened in the midnight hour to pray for someone. Fill us with how to pray. Allow us to pray in the Holy Spirit as we are led to pray. Lord let us come together in fellowship to pray for our government, families, jobs, pastors, teachers, friends, churches let all be occassions of prayers said in love. Lead each person to scripture pretaining to prayer and may we be blessed by it. Let us shake the mountains and move them with prayer. Annoint us with empowering in prayer, in Jesus' name. Amen.....
“Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation.” (Mt. 26:41)
“Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving.”
Then he [Jesus] spoke a parable to them to this end, that men ought always to pray and not lose heart.” (Luke 18:1)
“Pray without ceasing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
“Watch therefore and pray always” (Luke 21:36)
Prayer [Gk: "proseuche"] is “communion with God”. Through prayer we actually experience relationship with God. The quality of our prayer life then determines the quality of our relationship with God. Prayer is talking with God. Prayer is listening to God. Prayer is enjoying the presence of God. It can take many forms – for example: worship, confession, thanksgiving, praise, petition (asking for things), waiting (silent, listening and sensing of God) and warfare (command). If we are baptized in the Spirit we can pray with the spirit, in languages unknown to us but not to God. (1 Corinthians 14:2,14). Prayer is not simply saying words. It is not repeating formulas. God is looking for heartfelt relationship. We are told by Jesus not to make meaningless repetitions of words when we pray. (Mathew 6:7). (information from National Day of Prayer; web site)
Prayer is also love, we are to pray in love. To me prayer is communion, liquid fire, and alive, it is love talk with God. A telephone line to Dad. Conversation with God. Prayer does not have to be a half day item, it can be several short prayers through the day. Sometimes I pray for hours, again that is up to the leading of the Holy Spirit, sometimes, I pray for 10 mins. It just depends on whom needs prayer. I love to pray, and it seems as though God has given me the grace to do it.
